Can Art Be a Vehicle for Education?
The Biennale de Paris in Guatemala centres on the question: “Can art be a vehicle for education?”
It aims to engage Guatemala’s contemporary art scene in exploring the relationships between art and education. This edition was developed in collaboration with Kristina Cordon. Born in Guatemala, she studied at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle in 2012. She also participated in a session at Iheap New York, the former name of the Biennale de Paris’s school in New York.
The programme includes a series of lectures, round-table discussions and projects selected through an open call. The call is open to artists and anyone wishing to explore education through art.
One distinctive feature of this call is that applicants are asked to submit three art books as their application fee. All books received will be used to establish a permanent art library open to the public in Guatemala.
