Adaptation as an Art Form
The Biennale de Paris is partnering with the European School for the Integration of Migrants through Art (EEIMA) to organise the Art & Migration 2024 forum, devoted to the theme “Adaptation as an Art Form”.
The event aims to become a major European reference point on migration issues while affirming Brussels’ role as an international artistic and political hub.
The forum takes an innovative approach to the relationship between migration and art. It brings together artists, researchers, activists, policymakers, entrepreneurs and cultural practitioners through an inclusive approach aimed at generating positive social change. By exploring the connections between art and migration, it highlights the role art can play in migrants’ integration and emancipation.
This edition will place particular emphasis on invisual art—art that exists otherwise than as an artwork. Free from traditional presentation spaces such as museums and galleries, it opens up creative possibilities that require no prior training in art history or artistic practice. Accessible to everyone, it can thus become a means of integration and emancipation for migrants.
