Invisual Art: Thinking About Art Differently
7 November 2026 · 7–10 pm · Brussels
Talk in French with Alexandre Gurita
La Chambre de l’Art et de la Culture welcomes Alexandre Gurita, invisual artist, originator of the concept of invisual art and director of the Biennale de Paris and the École nationale d’art de Paris (ENDA), for an encounter exploring other ways of thinking about and practising art.
Invisual art is art that exists otherwise than as a work of art, whether material or immaterial. It shifts artistic creation towards the invention of new conditions of existence. Human relationships, the economy, ecology, education and institutions become fields of creation in their own right.
What can art become when it frees itself from the obligation to produce an artwork? How can an artistic practice act upon reality and transform the conditions in which it exists?
Through an introduction to the foundations of invisual art and the possibilities it opens up, Alexandre Gurita will explore the relationships between art and society, alongside the economic, ecological and political dimensions of artistic activity. The encounter will invite participants to question established models and explore other possibilities for creation.
It is intended for artists, cultural professionals, researchers, students and anyone wishing to discover invisual art and join the conversation.
The Biennale de Paris is a partner of this event.
